Vintage Paisley Print

Here is another fabulous card made using these products. I love the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder used to texture the front of my card.

The strip of designer paper is adhered to River Rock cardstock (with the edges punched using the Scallop Trim Border punch) and the bottom is cut in a banner shape.

Can you believe that I held off ordering the Boho Blossom punch until about a month ago? Wow, what was I thinking! This punch worked perfectly for creating the little flower with the Vintage Trinket brad placed through the centre.

The final little touch is the sentiment which I punched out using the Word Window punch.

Stamping Terminology

Have you felt like I have been missing in action? It has been a long time since I have neglected so many days of posting.

Let's just say I am taking some business classes and my time has been disappearing quickly. So much so that I have told myself I am not allowed to sign up for any more classes until I have mastered the ones I have joined :)

I am also working on a new website and the program is completely different than the format of this blog so huge learning curve happening there.

Of course, on top of all this, I have my classes I offer you. I am hoping to have my new website/blog up and running soon and have been holding off posting new projects until then. (need to keep you in suspense)

Today though I thought I would share some Stamping Terminology.

As demonstrators (or even hardcore stampers) we tend to forget that not everyone is up to date on our stamping terms and may not have a clue what we are talking about. So I would just like to focus on DD products. What are DD products? Some of you may have first thought Dazzling Diamonds glitter until you read the word products.

I must admit that I am not the most faithful person in advertising DD products. They are the Definitely Decorative items available in it's own small catalogue.

Products in the Definitely Decorative catalogue range from vinyl images/ sayings to adhere to walls, home decor, etc., to stencils that can be used to modify home decor pieces or clothing even, to picture frames and blocks.

These products are fantastic for those that love Interior Decorating and they add great touches to your rooms.

Classes

I just finished up another tile coaster class last night and let me tell you something, it was a blast. I love seeing all the inspiration and creativity these women display and to think that several of them are beginners and new to stamping. Seriously, they are still wet behind the ears but the talent.... wow!

This class has just been so popular and requested again that I have added another date this month.

Pretty in Blue

I love love love this card. I plan on creating more of these because they are just SO pretty. I have to be honest that I CASE'd this card from another talented demonstrator. I switched up my patterned paper and acheived a crumpled look to the flower simply by spritzing water on it.

I did spray a bit of Vanilla Smooch Spritz on the flower to give it a bit of sparkle.

When I get a chance to sit down and make more of these cards I plan on using the fantastic set Four Frames that will be available in the next Idea Book & Catalogue. (see yesterday's post for more details on this)

Monday disappeared before I even realized that I hadn't posted anything. Whooops! So I guess I will have to make up for it the rest of the week.

Okay, so my title says Happy Birthday but I need to say that it's really no ones birthday today (well, no in my family anyway) BUT the page is for a birthday so it still fits well.

I teach every few months for the school board and I am always doing new designs in case I have some students who took the previous session.

I would love to say that this page is my own design but once again I relied on the wonderul talent of our demo only site Stampin' Connection. I CASE'd the page changing up few things such as the title.

I wanted quite a bit of white space and the colours I used were quite colourful so I kept things neat and tidy on the page. Should I have placed a full title on the page I would have been left with little space so I shortened it to HB. Click on the photo for a better look.

I love the look of this page and the fresh fun colours.

National Humour Month

Did you know that April is National Humor month? I didn't up until a day or two ago.

So how do you celebrate this - well I guess the natural thing to do would be to share some humor right?

Now let's see, I have a fantastic memory as many of you know and it usually lasts all of 5 seconds but one joke that I can remember is one that I have been told on various occasions from different kids and they giggle every time they tell it or hear it:

Shimmery Butterfly

I always do three projects for my Mommy and Me class. I have already shared two of those projects over the past week and here is the third and final project.

It was super quick and easy and a fun craft to do with kids.

This is a butterfly magnet created using chipboard, aluminum tape, the Butterfly BigZ die and the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder...oh and a magnet LOL

The aluminum tape can be purchased from hardward stores such as Home Depot. It comes 2" wide and is on a roll. I highly recommend attaching cardstock to the back of the tape to give it more 'structure' as the tape is super thin. You will find your finished product looks much nicer.

Sharing in My Bliss

Can you believe today is the last day of Sale-A-Bration?! Where does time go...?

I just couldn't let the last day go by without sharing another card I made using the Bliss set. I CASE'd this card from another demo. I may have changed one or two things but for the most it's the same. I just loved how pretty this card is.

The flourish design was stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed with White embossing powder. Soooo pretty!

Life Happens

Oooh I just love this page that I am sharing with you today. It is so pretty and feminine. I created a few more flower embellishments to attach to the page once I have added photos. I've only had this page created for a year so who knows maybe in another year or three I'll actually get some photos on it LOL

The set used for this page is Vintage Vogue and if I remember correctly I based my design on a page I saw in one of last years Mini Catalogues.

Easter Bunny Puppet

Where did Monday go? Seriously it was an insane day but it ended great. I had a fantastic hostess last night for a workshop and her friends were great too. It makes late nights worthwhile :)

I had my Mommy and Me class on Saturday afternoon and the kids had a great time. This is another project we made for the class. An Easter Bunny puppet. I got the idea while browsing through the demo only site Stampin' Connection.

Is this sweet bunny not cute?!!

It's incredible what a little imagination, some punches and some BigZ dies can create :)

Timeless

As with cards, I find that creating scrapbooking pages for men or boys can be difficult. I really have to be careful not to add too many embellishments, well frilly ones anyway.

Just a wee bit of stamping, a library clip, some torn patterned paper and photo mattes and this page is ready for pictures and journalling.

I like simple, classic pages for men.

How to Overcome Lack of Time

The biggest frustration I find my customers have is 'finding time'. So many say they love stamping and creating, that it is a good stress reliever, but they just don't have time.

People ask me how I manage so much. I work full time, I care for my family and I have my stamping. Really it all comes down to time management. I have learned to schedule time in for working in my stamping room and time scheduled for my family.

On top of this, I write down my 'to do' list so that when it is my night to work in the stamp room I already know what I will be working on.

If I am really short on time and I want to make some cards, I will open up a folder on my computer with pictures of cards I really like and I will CASE one of them. This saves me a lot of time coming up with my own idea. Typically though as I re-create the card I tend to change things up here and there and before you know it the card is my own creation still.

If you know that you and your partner will be home at the same time but want some stamping time, set up parameters with your partner that those specific hours that evening will be yours and putting the kids to bed will be their task.

We all need balance in our lives we just need to take the bull by the horn. I'm sure if you express to others that you need this time to yourself to relax and de-stress they will respect your request.

Sometimes even making something as simple as a tag can be enough to take care of that papercrafting 'fix'.

Set some goals for yourself, set up a schedule and stick to it, you'll find it works.

M is for Margaret

No I am not vain. LOL. I am just featuring one of the projects for this weekend's Mommy & Me Class.

The kids will be making a hanging picture frame. They will be able to add 3 photos of themselves and diecut the first letter to their name.

The back of the frame was made using 12" x 12" chipboard with a layer of patterned paper. The bottom photo mattes were created using the scallop square BigZ die.

A few buttons added and they have a cute hanging photo frame.

Watercolouring Made Easy

At regionals last year we were shown how easy 'watercolouring' can be. I see people demonstrate something and it is made to look so easy and then I do it and struggle, but what I loved was that this 'watercolouring' really was easy.

Now for this particular project I stuck to the super simple. I did not use Watercolour paper but began with Whisper White (this is actually tricky IF you use an aquapainter but here's a hint.... I didn't use it) LOL

I stamped my images with Staz On ink and let sit for a few minutes to dry.

Next I pulled out my Stampin' Write Markers and set out colouring. Rather than using two different colour markers, on most of these projects I used one colour and just layered over top of it to achieve a darker look in some areas. Now this is the simplest way to achieve different shades of colour on a project but I will create more projects where we will take colouring a step further still.

The best part about these three particular images is that they are from a set called Studio Sketches and the images include 'shading' already. This took the biggest challenge out of the colouring for me as I automatically knew where I had to add more colour.

On the jug image below, I wanted to add a bit more lighting effect and so I left a couple areas bare of colour. Talk about making a difference in the overall look. I LOVE it.

Now I can't wait to use these little watercolour masterpieces on some cards. :)

Party Banner

I know I've said this before but I'm going to say it again, I love the perks I have from being a Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrator. I have so many fabulous resources that are available exclusively to demonstrators and I find so much inspiration from these resources. One of these resources is called Stampin' Connection and its a place where we demonstrators can chat, discuss business and share our creations with one another. I find lots of great ideas and I like that I can save a creation as My Favorite so that later on when I posting my own creation I can at least go back and say, hey my inspiration came from ....so and so.

Well today's project came about from one of these instances. I saw a page that fellow demo Tessa Wise did and knew it was perfect for one of my scrapbooking classes. I used mostly the same colour scheme as Tessa but made the page my own by changing the title and the format of the title.

I have so many pages that I've made but have just never shared with you so you can expect to see more in the future.

Mother's Garden

Monday, already? Where did the weekend go? Sometimes time flies by too fast. One fantastic thing about this weekend is I managed to get the perfect sized desk for my stamp room. I love it. Now I just need my punch racks and also put up the ribbon rack Chris made me and I can take lovely photos to share with you all. :)

Today I am SUPER excited to share this project with you today. I spent a lot of time creating this beauty and although I love most everything I make, my heart was truly swelling with pride on this one.

Using the owl rose technique that I learned from Valita's Fresh and Fun Folds I created nine flowers for my little flower garden. I was looking to create a planter like you see hanging on railings of apartment building balconies. Instead of creating the 'lip' to hang over the railing, I added handles on the ends.

Then I created 3 individual pot holders and added my flowers creating stems from cardstock. I wanted the flowers to shimmer and shine so I spritzed Vanilla Smooch Spritz on them.

The dirt was created by shredding scrap bits of Chocolate Chip cardstock. I wanted the focus to be on the flowers so the box I left very simple with just a nice Vanilla Hodgepodge frame and the title "Mothers's Garden"

I hope you like this project as much as I do. This is my masterpiece :)

Paisley Petals

Wooo hooo!!! It's FRIDAYYYYYY!!! Sorry but it always makes me happy, but then again most days of the week make me happy.... why you might ask... simply for the fact that I am alive and that is a great blessing.

Don't you love this paper!!! Another great thing is that Stampin' Up! is an incredible resource for us demonstrators and they provided us with sample cards made with these products. I loved the cards so much that I thought, hey why mess with perfection. So needless to say, this card is a CASE from Stampin' Up! (with a couple minor changes)

St. Patricks Day

Well I wish I could say Happy St. Patricks Day but I received news this morning that my father is in hospital with heart problems again. I will find out more when I go visit him after work today. I would love to go now but we are short handed at work and I would likely have a hard time sneaking past the nurses at this time of day considering visiting hours don't start until 2pm :(
The base is Natural Ivory. As I mentioned the other day, I have tons of this cardstock so I need to put it to better use. I added another layer of Natural Ivory cardstock but before I adhered it I ran it through the Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder. Tone on tone, I really like this effect.

The large 4 leaf clover was created by clear embossing the Woodgrain background stamp on Garden Green cardstock and punching out 4 large hearts. I layered them all together to form a clover and added a brad in the center to hold them together.

The sentiment is a strip of Natural Ivory with the ends cut in a banner shape. I stamped Happy St. Patricks Day in Garden Green ink and curled the strip of cardstock before attaching to my card front.

This really is a basic card and I did struggle with it as I have never 'participated' in St. Patties Day before or made projects based on it.

Monkey Trouble

I return yet again to a project that I did with my Stamp Club last year. I had decided to focus one evening on bookmarks. Well my wonderful fiance said to me, 'what about a monkey Margaret, you could easily make a monkey'

Well, he was right, the monkey was super easy and not only that, the monkey is super cute.

Creating simple projects like this is one of the reasons I love punch art and all the creations you can make with punches.

This bookmark featured a few circle punches, an oval punch, the retired trio flower punch and the Scribbles sizzlit die used in the Big Shot.

Simple Little Challenge

Card Purse

Happy Monday and hope everyone survived DST. I am such a horrible person as I had a challenge last week to make a St. Patricks Day card and schedule a post for Saturday. Well I have the card half completed and I had the post 3/4 completed but needless to say neither of them are completed. Ugh! Here I was going to remind everyone about DST but no need to anymore for the next several months anyway. LOL

So last month at Stamp Club I decided that instead of just cards we would make a cute little card purse to hold some cards in. This is a great gift idea and quite easy to make.

To make the gift even more fun the cards use the same designer paper and ribbon as the purse.

Since I used ribbon on the cards I was only able to fit 3 cards and envelopes into the purse.

Coasters

Friday, one day closer to the weekend. I'm sure most of you are with me when I say I love weekends. :)

The other night I worked in the stamp room and managed to get a bit of work done. I am working on getting not only my stamp room organized but myself as well. That's a tougher task LOL

I had a tile coaster class last night so I wanted to be able to show some samples of various colouring mediums used on the tiles.

The truck coaster has a couple different colouring mediums on it. First the truck is stamped in Staz On Black ink. The front of the truck was coloured using chalk and a paintbrush. The grass is coloured with a marker. The windows, bumper and wheels were coloured using an ink pad and paintbrush. You can see the difference in intensity using these different mediums.

The 'Taygan' coaster was also stamped first in Staz On black ink. The name is coloured in using Stampin' Write Markers and the images were stamped using regular classic ink.

When I began the class I quickly showed everyone how to stamp and colour and also let them know that background stamps were also a great way to go. Here is the one I did in less than five minutes:

Everyone had a great time and asked that I hold another coaster class so needless to say I have one scheduled for early April. :)

Bookmark Card

Today's project is an old one for me that I did with my Stamp Club last year. Each time I would see this card in my card rack I would remind myself that I needed to photograph it and post it.

This card is 3" x 6" and very clean and simple. I wanted the focus to be on the bookmark. It's great because this bookmark slides out of the front of the card.

Something I have tons of (seriously I mean it) but don't use often enough, is the Natural Ivory cardstock. The colour of this cardstock is so pretty and soft. Like the Whisper White and Very Vanilla cardstock, you receive 40 sheets in a package for $9.25. The difference though is that this cardstock is not buffered and it is heavier like our coloured cardstock, which I love.

To give the cardstock a nice speckled look I put a Stampin' Write Marker in my Spritzer Tool and spritzed colour ofer the front.

My second use for my Stampin' Write Marker on this card was drawing a dotted line about an inch from the bottom. Great little touch eh?

Mini Scrapbook Page

Before I get to today's project let me show you my talking box - during Sale-A-Bration Stampin' Up! has been sending out talking boxes. They are so much fun. Check out what my box had to say to me this week :)

Well I realized that I never seem to share scrapbook pages I create and yet people tell me how beautiful they are so I will try to be more faithful in taking photos and posting them.

Todays page is a 6 x 6 page that was a make n' take at a recent workshop.

I showcased crumpling and tearing as well as the great new Fun Flower die available in the Occassions Mini for $43.95. These flowers are gorgeous and curling the ends adds some great appeal. I have so many projects I plan to use these on.

And what about the fabulous Sweet Stitches Fabric Brads available in the Occasions Mini. Seriously, these are so worth $8.95 for a package of 24 brads. Is it bad that I didn't really want to share them? LOL

This page was super fun and super easy and those who came to the workshop but aren't into scrapbooking can easily make this into a 'postcard'.

Fabric Project Instructions

Baja Bliss

If you remember last week I mentioned I had entered two swaps at the Megameeting I went to. I showed you the card I made for the Occasions Mini swap but I never showed you the card I made for the Sale-A-Bration swap.

I also featured this card in the workshop I hosted last week Monday so those who came were able to make this as well.

The card front is Very Vanilla cardstock which I ran through the Big Shot using the Tulip Frame embossing folder. I sponged Baja Breeze ink around the edges to make the tulips pop out more.

I inked up my Bliss image in Baja Breeze ink and stamped in the centre of my card front. I added a Basic Pearl to the top of the image and then on scrap paper I stamped my butterfly image in Crumb Cake ink, cut it out using scissors and popped it up with dimensionals.

I layered my cardfront to a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Crumb Cake base. The finishing touch is the Baja Breeze seam binding. It is gorgeous stuff and the easiest 'ribbon' to do the scrunch technique on. I cut the end, pulled one of the little strings and gently scrunched the seam binding along my cut length. Once I was happy with this I added Sticky Strip to my card front, adhered the scrunched seam binding to it and trimmed my ends.

Idea Book CASE

Wooo hooo it's Friday - wow I am so happy.

Last night I decided to simply play in my stamp room. February was a hectic month for me and so far March has been quieter. I do have to prepare for my Tile Coaster class next week but decided I haven't played just for me in a while so it was time to take a break. With Chris out of commission every Thursday it is the perfect opportunity to do this. I thought it would be relaxing but....no... I was worrying I wouldn't hear Chris call out for me when he came to, I was worrying that Mad's barking would interrupt Chris and he would jerk awake, I was worried about everything it seemed and didn't feel like I got into the groove.

I did however make a couple cards. One is enhhhh, and the other one I like, albeit mostly a CASE from one of the cards on the cover of the Idea Book & Catalogue. This is the one I am showing you today.

I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock and torn an edge off, then I ran it through the Big Shot with the Lattice embossing folder. I put my Marina Mist marker in my Colour Spritzer tool and spritzed 'ink' onto the card front.

I attached this to my 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Early Espresso card base and added a couple strips of Marina Mist cardstock to the two long edges.

I coloured my stamp from the Occasions Mini Eat Chocolate set using Stampin' Write markers and stamped on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. I pulled out my Decorative Label punch and punched this out. I added dimensionals to it and popped it up on my card front. Finally I added a bow of 1/8" wide Marina Mist ribbon and attached it with a glue dot.

Simple, cute and still different than the one on the cover of the Idea Book.

More Make n' Takes

Brrr is that wind outside cold or what! Guess it depends where you are too. That is one thing about living in the country with an open field across the road... taking the dog for a walk is not fun sometimes.

To give us some cheer and keep our minds off winter, how about a few more make n' takes from last weekend?

Both this first card and the second card use the Occasions Mini set, Nature Walk.

Two lovely cards with two very different styles. I think for this second card I will add some colouring to the focal image.

For the third item, it was a WOW presentation that Jacqueline Cameron did and she had each of us make a mini card to try the technique. We made these cute little 'flowers' using scallop circles.

Owl Roses

Yesterday I promised I would share my WOW item that I presented at the Megameeting on Saturday. I first saw this paper rose on a card on my dear friend Mel's blog. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to make it. She had kindly included a link to the person who made the tutorial for it and you can find it on Valita's blog.

Although I did not take a picture of all the completed pink roses I now have from Saturday's presentation I am thrilled that I have several ready to use on a project.

It was great to show them how to put the rose together and how beautiful it is when complete but it was even better showing them the two creations I had made using my paper roses.

Believe it or not but these sweet things were created using the Owl Punch, the 1 1/4" circle punch and the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle punch. Also used were a bone folder, scissors, Tombow multi-purpose glue, cardstock (obviously LOL), and a pair of tweezers with a long curved tip.
(you can substitute the 1 1/4" circle punch for a 1" circle punch and the 2 3/8" scallop circle punch for the smaller scallop circle punch - this will create a tighter rose)

So my first creation was this scrapbook page. I wanted a pop of colour on this page and the Pacific Point, Real Red and Daffodil Delight flowers certainly achieved this.

I used the Newsprint Designer paper showing the music notes and I have 3 black mattes for photos. I added some Chantilly ribbon/ lace at the bottom of the page, gathering as I went. The top corner of the page needed a little something, so using linen thread and a needle I gathered the Chantilly lace into a 'flower' and sewed a button to it using the Linen thread as well.

My second creation that I displayed at my presentation was this soft and sweet card. I was inspired by Mel's card and felt that the rose in the bottom left corner was a good place. I ran Very Vanilla cardstock through my Big Shot using the Tulip Frame embossing folder from the Occasions Mini and highlighted the tulips by sponging Pretty in Pink ink on them. I used sticky strip to adhere my Chantilly lace to my Pretty in Pink satin ribbon, then I added sticky strip to my card front and once again gathered my ribbon. I glued the rose in place using glue dots so it had a strong hold.

I attached my Vanilla card front to a layer of Pink Pirouette cardstock and then attached to my 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" Crumb Cake card base. I ran my Lots of Tag die through the Big Shot three times. Twice with Crumb Cake cardstock and once with Very Vanilla. The sentiment is stamped on the Very Vanilla in Pretty in Pink ink (may be a bit hard to see) using a saying from the Hostess Level 3 set Occasional Quotes. I adhered the three tags together offsetting the Crumb Cake pieces behind the Vanilla and popping up on my card front using pop dots.

PS - The rose is actually made from Pink Pirouette cardstock

Make n' Takes from Megameeting

I mentioned yesterday how I attended a Megameeting on Saturday for demonstrators in Laura's downline. Saturday was a whirlwind of activities. It was so much fun and before I knew it the day was over. I was actually a WOW presenter this time around and I received some high praise from some top ranking Canadian demos. Boy did that make me feel good. Today though I thought I would share a few of the make n' takes we made. They were a lot of fun and took only minutes to put together (yes it helped that everything was pre-cut - thanks Laura!!!)

Is this first card not simply lovely. Lattice BigZ die cut layered on Lattice embossed cardstock. I love the colours and love the simplicity of this card.

How about a great masculine card? I guess I am ready for Father's Day :) There is nothing girly about this card and yet it uses the simple easel design. Love it!

Finally for today (I do have more to share but what fun is showing them all at once) here is a cute Easter treat we made. Simple with a couple tasty candies tucked in a little baggie inside.

Hazzard County Card Challenge

Oh my, the other Hazzard County girls are going to be so surprised when they see I have joined in this months challenge.

Let's say I killed two birds with one stone. Saturday I went to a Megameeting (for demonstrators) in Burlington with Kathy and we had a great time. It has been a few months since I joined in any swaps, so when I saw Jacqueline Cameron was hosting a Sale-A-Bration Mini and an Occasions Mini swap I joined both.

Each swap had to use products from their respective Mini Catalogue so for the Occasions Mini I decided to use Create-a-Cupcake. Well wouldn't you know it but I incorporated the elements required for the HCCC challenge this month. PERFECT! LOL

My cupcake has the most detail but still came together quickly. I punched out a piece of Real Red cardstock using the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle punch, I cut out a Baja Breeze circle (2 1/4") using the Circle Scissor Plus and then a Whisper White Circle (2") using the Circle Scissor plus. I layered these three together.

Next I punched out my cupcake top from Baja Breeze cardstock using the Create-a-Cupcake punch. I covered the piece in Tombow Multipurpose Glue and covered with Baja Breeze Glass Glitter (soooo pretty).

The cupcake bottom was made by inked up (using a marker) in Pear Pizzaz ink from the Create-a-Cupcake stamp set and stamped on Pear Pizzaz cardstock. I used the punch to then punch it out. I glued this to the White cardstock circle. I also added Tombow double sided adhesive to my glittery cupcake top and added that to the white circle as well. Then using the oh so bold Red Glitter paper from the Occasions Mini I punched out my cherry and used a glue dot to hold that in place.

Next I ran a piece of Whisper White cardstock through the Big Shot using the Elegant Lines embossing folder. I wrapped Pear Pizzaz seam binding (also from the Occasions Mini) around and tied in a bow. Wow is this stuff shimmery and light, you can barely feel it between your fingers. I can't believe how gorgeous it is though and can't wait to order more.

I added my White embossed layer to my 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" Real Red card base and finally popped up my layers of circles and cupcake to the front of my card.

I love the bold bright colours of this card and how yummy that cupcake is.

Warmth and Love

How about a quick and simple card for a Friday? I need to do quick and simple because I have a cold and it is dragging me down.

The base is Very Vanilla with a bit of Jolly Holiday designer paper layered over top. One edge of the Jolly Holiday paper is punched with the Scallop border punch. Before I attached this to my base though I wrapped my Old Olive Satin ribbon around it and tied it in a bow.

The sentiment is another Merry & Bright silver rub-on. (retired)

Dry Heat is So Sweet

I was teaching a card class last week and wanted to showcase both dry and heat embossing all on the same card. I wanted my image to really stand out so we used Versamark and then black embossing powder. The flowers were then coloured in using Stampin' Write Markers.

I wanted to also show how you can dress up the inside of the card so we repeated the process on Whisper White cardstock for the inside flap.

They loved this card and how easy it is to do both heat and dry embossing.

Whoo's Anniversary?

I love the new Sale-A-Bration set, Punch Bunch. It has so many simple and sweet images and sentiments and the cute little owl used on this card is no exception. The really wonderful thing about this is that once the owl is stamped, you simply use the 2-step Owl punch to punch them out.

I wanted a bright and vibrant card with texture and the owls seemed a great fit. Don't you love that one has a green 'belly' and the other a 'pink' belly? So easy to do with markers.

I also learned that using the bone folder to curl even small strips of paper works great to add depth and appeal to a card, so that is what I did with my little sentiment.

Tuesday already? That long weekend sure flew by and now we are back to work. C'est la vie!

Since I have had so many classes over the past few weeks I do have some new card creations to share with you as soon as I photograph them but for right now I will share an old card with you.

The layout and colours are quite simple yet I love the saying and the simple effect that paper piecing can create. Oh and don't forget a bit of glitter to glam up those lovely flowers. :)

Red and Silver Ornament

Shortly after Christmas I was speaking with my dear friend Angela who had been the recipient of today's card and she had a sweet little story for me about the card. She will have to correct me if I get the details wrong but it was something along the line of the card being the perfect card for them. It arrived in the mail and the kids sat and played with it for about 15 minutes pretending they were selling ornaments and showing off the different colour choices to select from. (I hope that was right Ange ;~)

This card was so pretty and with the extra popping of the ornament and the pearls to give it a soft touch it turned out just right.

Less Is More

Lately I have been browsing around some new blogs and I found one called Less Is More that has challenges focusing on simpler cards. Well wouldn't you know it, their challenge this week was a one layer card with the theme of a flower or a tree and I just so happened to have a one layer card with a tree on it ready and waiting for me to photograph and post.

It was meant to be. So todays card is another one of my sponged spotlight cards that I have grown to love because of how simple yet effective this technique it.

I used Wild Wasabi and Marina Mist ink to sponge my landscape and I used the tree from the set Forest Friends.

I hope you like my simple yet vibrant card and would love for you to give this technique a try as well.

Shaving Cream Fun

Oh my goodness... here is a card we made at a meeting at my former up-line's home. Who knew that shaving cream could create this fantastic look? I seriously love it and yet, I have never tried it on my own since, but I will be soon.

This card was so simple yet packs so much WOW. First you follow the shaving cream technique on Whisper White cardstock, next stamp your image, then cut it out with the paper trimmer and trim cut out down a bit more so when you place it back in it's opening there is a mat around your image.

To My Sweet Valentine

For those of you who know me you likely know that I am truly, madly, deeply in love with my better half, my fiance, Chris. Although I may moan and complain every so often, he really is good to me. He respects me, cares for me, adores me and although his disability prevents him from doing a lot, those things he does do, mean so much. I am a poor cook but that's okay because he does the majority of cooking, even though it may take him several hours. Now how can you say that isn't love.

Our life together has changed dramatically since Chris' accident but we slowly are learning to make the most of what we can do together and just enjoy each other.

I tell you, since I have moved my stamp room he has barely seen me and yet he has been so supportive and encouraging.

I just had to make a special card for him, so after all my absolute must -do's were completed on my To Do list, I sat down and made this sweet creation for him. I was inspired by my dear friend Melissa's card to her husband John.

I left it on the bedside table this morning for him when I left for work so that when he gets up he will see it (I hope LOL)

This 6 x 6 card was super easy to make and this was the first time I sponged clouds onto a card. I have been really into sponging lately and so I got my fill creating my sky on this card.

The only stamp I used was the sentiment and it is from Artistic Etchings. I really had to hold myself back from using ribbon on this card and I think the Pewter Hodgepodge frame was just right.

I really didn't want to lose the ever classic colour of Valentines and therefore made sure I included red in this card. I really like these colours together. One thing I love about this card is that after sponging on the textured Vanilla cardstock, it now has the look of fabric/ linen. So cool!

Pink Hearts

Wow, what a week this has been. Four nights of teaching and classes, it was SO much fun. There was so much laughing, especially last night, that I'm pretty sure I burned off all the calories from the cookies I ate. LOL

Now to prepare for 3 nights of teaching/ classes next week. :)

I am sharing a quick post today of a card that we made at my up-line's home several years ago. This set, Simply Said, is still current which is fantastic.

I love the softness of this card and it is so feminine. Very quick to make with very few colours.

Winter Memories

I don't know if you recall or not but shortly before Christmas I had mentioned that I still had some Christmas cards to share but was holding off so they could make it to the recipient before I posted. Well, Christmas came and I took a week's hiatus and then what do you know, I never posted.

So I will slowly begin sharing some of these creations.

This was one of my absolute favorites that I created. I began envisioning this card as I lay in bed one night and it slowly grew over the next couple days until I was able to sit down and make it.

I used the Jolly Bingo Bits set for my images and the oh so gorgeous Old Olive Satin Ribbon. For quickness and ease I used the 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 square punches and I sponged ink around my layers.

I hope you like this card just as much as I do.

I was inspired to create today's card after seeing a post on Heather Summers blog. I simply changed the patterned paper but I believe everything else bears a striking resemblence to her card LOL

Well I had a great weekend, it was super busy and lots of work was accomplished but unfortunately I was shy on time to put up a post yesterday.

Sense of Time

I was working on masucline cards to prepare one for Monday nights class at the Library and this was a card I came up with, although not the card picked for the class. I am not sure if the stampers will be beginners or not so I had to be careful about how much work they had to put into it and although this card may not look like much, there were several things I did to get it the way it looks.

This was also the first time I pulled out my Distressing Kit since I bought it back in August. It is a lot of fun and I hope to use it more often.

The reason this card did not meet the final approval, other than all the little details and techniques used to make it look the way it does, was the ribbon. Men aren't so much into ribbon....LOL

It's still a great card and I am happy with the outcome.

A Card for Me...

I LOVE Chris. He is the most wonderful fiance in the world. His disability may prevent him from doing a lot of things but sitting down to make a card for me is not one of them.

I couldn't stop laughing when I found this 12 x 12 in my stamping room that he made for me and at the same time my heart swelled with love and fondness.

Chris has a great imagination and he knows how thrilled I am to have a large new stamping room where I can have so many more people at my events in one room.

The front is Chris and I'll be honest, I couldn't figure out the initials on his shirt. The word "Whaat?" should have been a big clue. The movie Despicable Me has become a huge favorite for us and we all settled on which character we were. Well Chris is Dr. Gru, hence the DG on his shirt.

The inside of the card - AMAZING. So cute and the woman is his depiction of moi. LOL - I just love this card. He obviously spent quite a bit of time to cut out our outfits, hair (okay,my hair because he keeps his head shaved) and even down to eyebrows made from cardstock. Seriously!!!

Sunset Spotlight

I know I posted a Valentine's themed card already using this technique but I couldn't resist doing one where it looks like the sun is setting. I copied this colour combo and the design from another demo. I changed up my stamp set from what she had used.

This card uses the image and sentiment from Just Believe. Such a pretty one layer card and quite easy to complete.

This will be one of the cards that we will be making at the card class next Monday at the Aboyne Library.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. I know mine was busy. I had a workshop this weekend plus was busy moving my stamping room. I am slowly getting there. Slooowwwly LOL

I will definitely post pics when it is complete - getting so excited.

Today's card is super sweet. The layout is copied from another demo but the card itself is completely my own. (Go Margaret LOL)

Sweet and adorable. I love how the ribbon and button add the perfect finishing touch to the card. I used retired DP on it and it seemed to be the absolute right fit for this card. And who can't resist the cute images from the set Animal Stories.

Sending Some Birthday Love

I have been busy this week preparing for workshops and classes and at the same time trying to move my stamp room. Let me tell you this is no easy feat. Mel and I got a lot done on the weekend but boy was there a lot left to do. It was a tad bit tough having my paper and adhesive downstairs but everything else still upstairs. I had to do a lot of running back and forth the other day to complete my workshop projects, but the exercise did me good. LOL

Last night I managed to get all my stamp sets, punches, ink, ribbon, colouring mediums and a few other odd things moved downstairs. This means I just need a table and a chaird downstairs and I can start working on things again. Woo hoo!

Okay - today's card, I admit it - yes - I CASE'd this card with only a couple minor changes. This is what happens when you are crunched for time. I love the Sending Love DP on the Clearance Rack. The paper is really gorgeous and sparkly. This card was so quick and easy and I like how the sponging around the Vanilla layer added the right touch to the card. It just looked too plain and bare without it.

Transfering Photos onto Tiles

I had been left a comment on the post I did about My Beautiful Babies and was asked how you transfer photos onto tiles. Unfortunately I was unable to figure out how to send a message with instructions directly to Carla so I am posting a quick note here on my blog in hopes that Carla will be back and see this post to help her out.

Hopefully this will help my other readers as well.

Splitcoaststampers has a full tutorial on how to create these from start to finish. The only pointer I would add that I do not believe was in the tutorial is that when you get to the step about adding a layer of Modgepodge over the photo, that you need to be very careful and gentle as the photo can tear and smear.

Divine Valentine

I had mentioned how much work I have to do after getting over the flu bug and last night while Chris lay quietly recuperating from his pain treatments I took the opportunity to get some work done in the stamp room. I think I surprised even myself. I managed to get designs completed for 2 classes (3 cards designs in each class). So I left the stamp room after about 3 1/2 hours feeling rejuvenated and ready to take on the world. I will be sharing those cards with you over the next week and a bit.

I particularly love today's card I am sharing. I think for me it is the rich colours and also the texture that the gathered ribbon adds. I CASE'd the design from another demo, Debbie Henderson but changed a few elements and colours

The card is elegant and classy and I love that. I used the new Framed Tulips embossing folder and although you cannot see it, on the inside I added another piece of Vanilla cardstock and stamped the large elegant image from the Sale-A-Bration set, Bliss, in red ink.5/8” Real Red Grosgrain – $12.25 - 117286

Heart Shaped Treat Holder

Well last night I had my monthly stamp club and I shared with the girls some exciting news. It seemed everyone was thinking I was going to have a baby. No, that is not the case. (sigh)

Instead, my exciting news is that my stamp room is being moved from the upstairs to the downstairs and will be about twice as big. I have drawn up my layout, purchased pantry cupboards on sale and on the hunt for the right furniture that will fit the room. Once complete I should be able to have about 3 tables that would fit (comfortably) 6 people each. That means no more stamp club on the main floor in two rooms. Woo hoo! I can also have larger groups than before and I won't be running up and down the stairs when I forget one thing (or two or three or four - LOL) In the winter when we get a chill, no problem, there is a nice stone fireplace to keep us cozy. I am so excited and can't wait to begin putting the cupboards together and start moving. Two things I am looking for are 2 or 3 white folding craft tables with SMOOTH tops, as well as folding chairs. I have two craft tables already but they have the rough patterned tops :( Once I can replace them I will be selling the 'old' ones.

Once I get the new room set up and organized I will take some pics and show them on the blog.

Okay so enough chatting about my new stamp room and on to today's project. I would love to claim this idea as my own but I can't. I CASE'd this design from Deanna at DeStampinCorner. I changed up the embellishments a tad to make it my own. This was a simple sweet treat holder. For stamp club, I had the girls fill a small cellophane bag with cinnamon hearts and candies to put inside.

Hot Air Balloon

Well I am happy to say that I am feeling a lot better and just left with a bit of a lingering cold. The bummer part is that it put me way behind on everything as I had no energy to work in my stamp room. This means I will have tonnes of work to catch up on in between of everything else but that is okay, I can do it. I am going to set some specific goals for myself and then work hard on achieving them.

I do have a card to share today. I have just begun my work for all my upcoming events and we all know Valentine's Day is coming up so for my Stamp Club tonight I decided I would focus on Valentines. I also have a Valentine's Card Class at the beginning of February but will use totally different designs for that class. Check out my website for more info on this class.

I had been using ideas from other peoples cards when inspiration hit me to make this card. It wasn't until the next day that I was moving things around on my table when I noticed my Valentine rub-on's from the Occasions Mini and it dawned on me that I must have had the Heart Air Balloon image in my subconcious. Elegance

One of my very good friends recently received MDS as a Christmas gift. She is totally not a scrapbooker but she decided to give it a whirl. About a week after Christmas I visited her and lo and behold, she had 3 pages completed on MDS. I could tell she was enjoying playing with it and a small thing like that makes me happy.

I love MDS too and the simplicity of the program. The other night I whipped up this card in about 10 minutes.

It was so easy and I love the simple classy feel of this card.

My Beautiful Babies

For the past two plus years I have been telling the girls that I want to make picture tile coasters for Chris as a gift. Originally I was going to take the girls to have their pictures done and use those photos but I have never gotten around to it. Over the holidays I thought about this once again and thought that perhaps if company came over they might think it a bit vain so then I had the brilliant idea of using pictures of my beautiful babies.

Although Titan passed away August '09 he remains close in our memories and our hearts. The picture of the dog standing up is Titan. Then there is our newest addition to the family, Madden. He melts our hearts and has been a truly healing entity in our lives since Titan's passing. Madden is also camera shy and I have had a very difficult time getting a good picture of him in the year and a half that we have had him so unfortunately it is not the worlds greatest photo but it is still a wonderful photo of our son.

Taygan and I were messing around in the stamp room and at the last minute I decided to whip up these photo tiles. They were SO easy to make and although you can tell that the pictures tore a bit as I adhered them to the tiles I find they give a bit of an aged look to them. I LOVE how these turned out and can't wait to make more.

Three Little Cupcakes Sitting in a Row...

Mmmmm I love this set. How can you not? The Create A Cupcake set and the Cupcake punch are so much fun and as my daughter Taygan pointed out, the top of the cupcake would make perfect clouds too!

I was looking to make a simple card that would keep the cupcakes as the main feature. This card is a 3" x 6" with a Textured Whisper White base. I added a layer of Baja Breeze and then the card front is again Whisper White Textured.

I stamped the bottoms of my cupcakes in Early Espresso ink. Next I stamped the cupcake tops in Baja Breeze ink and the sprinkles are stamped in this colour as well. The centre cupcake was stamped on scrap paper and punched out. I added ink - direct to paper - on the top of the cupcake, then covered it in glue and added Baja Breeze Glass Glitter, then popped it up on the cardfront.

What is a cupcake without a candle? To fix this I used my markers to colour the candle that was punched from white cardstock and I attached this to the top of the centre cupcake.

The sentiment is from the same set and is stamped in Certainly Celery ink to match the candle.

Occasions Mini Cupcake

I'm a little behind already this year. Yesterday the occasions mini began and I haven't posted anything yet so I need to fix that.

Over the Christmas holidays, my youngest daughter Taygan and I snuck up to the stamp room for a bit. We love hanging out and making cards.

I had some fantastic new products sitting on my stamping desk for a couple weeks and I was itching to ink up the set Create a Cupcake and use the new Cupcake punch but..... I love Taygan's card so much that I am sharing her card with you today that she created using some of these products.

She created a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 birthday card beginning with an Old Olive base. She has a huge stack of patterned paper and managed to find this fun striped paper that goes well with her base colour. She stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Level 1 Hostess set Afterthoughts in Old Olive ink. Then she set about punching out her cupcake bases and tops. She used Stampin' Write markers to colour the bottom of the cupcakes and Chunky glitter and Glass Glitter to cover the cupcake tops.

She popped these up using dimensionals. I think what I love most is how she used dew drops as the 'cherry' on top of the cupcake.

I hope you like Taygans card as much as I do.

This Christmas card helps remind us to laugh and smile and I think the sentiment is just wonderful. Because of this I wanted the sentiment to be the focal point.

The card base is Cherry Cobbler cardstock - 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. I ran the Old Olive layer through the Big Shot with the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder and then added a layer of Jolly Holiday designer paper over the left side.

I added the Merry & Bright rub-on's sentiment on Very Vanilla Cardstock and layered this on a Cherry Cobbler matte. I applied a couple dimensionals to the back and popped up on the card front.

Sweet and Jolly

I love this card. I think it is because I added to the inside on this one and left the card front very simple.

The card base is Cherry Cobbler 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". I cut the front flap a bit narrower and punched the long edge with the Scallop Border punch. I then ran the front flap only through the Big Shot using the Finial Press embossing folder. I wrapped Vanilla Taffeta ribbon around the card and tied it in a bow. I then added a Brushed Silver snowflake made using the Northern Frost decorative strip die and added a Bright Glimmer brad through the centre and adhered to the card front.

The inside of the card is quite simple as well. I added a layer of Very Vanilla Cardstock and then a strip of Jolly Holiday DSP along the right hand side. The Jolly Holiday paper is also punched along one side using the Scallop border punch to make it match the cardfront.

A Little Bit of Red to Make It Pop

Ooohhh Sunday - one day closer to Monday... but that is okay cause I have the day off - Yippeee!

My creation for you today is using the Joyful Season Letterpress plate again.

My card base is made from Baja Breeze cardstock - 4 1/4" x 5 1/2". My cardfront is clean and simple. I inked up the Letterpress plate with Chocolate Chip ink and pressed it onto Very Vanilla cardstock using the Big Shot.

I pulled out Real Red Polka Dot ribbon (retired - check the on-line clearance rack for this item) and wrapped it around the cardfront. I added three adhesive backed rhinestones to the bottom right corner and attached the card front to the Baja Breeze base.

Snowflakes and Ornaments

The card I have to share with you today is super basic.

The card base is Cherry Cobbler - 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

My card front is Whisper White cardstock embossed using the Northern Flurries embossing folder. I stamped an Ornament image from Tags Til Christmas in Cherry Cobbler ink on my card front. Next I stamped another ornament on a scrap bit of cardstoc and punched it out using the Ornament punch. I folded this in half and adhered over the ornament on my card front.

Chris felt that I needed more on the card (which he was right about) but I just didn't know what to add. So the silver snowflake in the bottom right corner was Chris' idea. This was cut out using the Northern Frost decorative strip die.

I layered the cardfront onto an Old Olive matte and attached to my cardbase.

Sometimes you just have to forego a sentiment on a card. That is what I did with today's card. Oh, and...no stamping again.

I created the base using Cherry Cobbler cardstock (4 1/4" x 5 1/2").

For the card front I embossed Old Olive cardstock with the Elegant Bouquet embossing folder. I then added some Jolly Holiday DSP over the embossed front and wrapped Old Olive Satin ribbon around the card front. I attached these layers to my card base.

The snowflake was cut from Silver cardstock using the Northern Frost Decorative strip die. I adhered this to Very Vanilla cardstock layered on an Old Olive matte. To finish this card, I added a Neutrals button to the centre of the snowflake.

Shining Season's Greetings

Wow to think we are one week and two days away from Christmas. This weekend I plan to start my Christmas shopping. Life has been too hectic to start earlier so here we are down to crunch time. I would love to say I have finished my Christmas cards but really I haven't. I have simply run out of time to make more and get them in the mail before Christmas. I finished preparing the last of my cards last night for the mail and they will be off today. So I will apologize now to anyone who does not receive a card from me this year. I am thinking of you.

I have some really cute Christmas cards to share with you that I absolutely adore but I need to wait a few days at least before I can share them as I don't want to spoil it for the recipients as I know they read my blog :)

I am sorry if some of you are getting tired of my colour scheme. This year I chose to make each card different using pretty much the same colours instead of making one or two designs and creating them in volume.

So today I am sharing this classy card. The base is Very Vanilla 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. I stamped my Season's Greeting sentiment in Cherry Cobbler ink from the set Snow Swirled.

My image is the Medallion background stamp. I inked it up in Cherry Cobbler and then spritzed it with my Gold Smooch Spritz before I stamped it on my Vanilla cardstock. It makes the stamp a bit messy but I love how the gold is only in the image and not all over the card front. It does take a long time to dry and even a couple weeks after making it some of the gold was still coming off on other papers laying on it. (I have to be honest, I used a bit too much spritz LOL)

I layered my image onto a piece of Cherry Cobbler and added to my card base. I then used retired Gold Cord and wrapped it around the card a few times and tied in a bow.

Okay - quick and easy for you today.

I used an Old Olive base with a layer of Cherry Cobbler that I embossed using the Northern Flurries embossing folder and added a strip of Jolly Holiday DP and then a bit of Old Olive Satin ribbon.

I used the Merry and Bright retired rub ons over Very Vanilla cardstock and punched out using the Ornament punch. I added some dimensionals to the back of it and popped it up on my card front.

How do you like that for easy? :)

Medallion

Don't you love how original my titles are - LOL

Today's card is super easy.

I stamped my Medallion stamp in Versamark ink on Whisper White cardstock, added silver embossing powder and heat set. I layered this on Silver cardstock and added my sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes, which I also embossed.

The sentiment was punched out using the Modern Label punch and held in place by Silver Elastic cord that is strung through holes punched at each end of the label and adhered to the back of the Silver matte.

This was then adhered to my Whisper White card base.

Still Joyful

Another Joyful Season card.....This letterpress plate is fantastic. I inked it up with Chocolate Chip ink on Very Vanilla cardstock.

I wrapped Old Olive satin ribbon around the card front and ruffled it up a bit. I have been using regular Tombow tape and I find that the rufffles come undone after a day or two, so if anyone knows which adhesive works best to hold these scrunchy ruffles in place I would love to hear from you.

To keep this card light and carefree I layered my cardfront onto a Baja Breeze card base.

So simple... :)

I love the simplicity of this card. I have thoroughly enjoyed making card after card that are all different yet all quite simple.

This is a standard 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Very Vanilla card base. I cut a piece of Jolly Holiday designer paper to layer on top and used the Scallop Edge punch along one edge.

I added a bow around the card front using the stunning Old Olive Satin ribbon (as I told my Stamp Club gals this week - I am SO in love with this ribbon).

Once again I used the retired rub on package Merry & Bright from last years Holiday Mini. This was the perfect finishing touch to this card.

Mmmm Mmmm Good

For the first time ever I joined a Cookie/ Baking Exchange. I'm not a huge baker, I like to make banana bread and sometimes I make cookies but I thought this would be a lot of fun.

A few weeks ago Taygan and I spent time in the kitchen testing recipes. I shared some of the treats with my co-workers and had them 'vote' on which one they liked best. Everyone said they liked both goodies but they all picked the Mocha Brownies.

So earlier this week I went ahead and whipped up 3 pans full, which gave me 7 dozen and I was all excited cause I only had one more batch to make but first I had to remove the brownies from the pans so I could use them. Well.........lo and behold.... they were all burnt. I was not very happy.

See, our oven that we have doesn't work very well. When a recipe says 350C, I have to put it at about 425C and cook at least twice as long as the recipe calls for. I thought I would be smart and use the oven downstairs, so I set the oven at 350C and the timer for the 25 minutes it called for. My downfall.... I missed reading the part in the recipe where it said to check my baking with a toothpick, so alas, I used a fork and some batter clung to it so I cooked it for another 5 minutes but still it clung a bit so I did another 4 minutes.

Well here I was last night needing to now start from scratch and I didn't have enough supplies to re-make the Mocha Brownies. I scoured the recipe book and found Pineapple Brownies which I have never made before. It looked easy enough and I had ingredients for it. So I set about making them, set the oven downstairs and the timer for 5 minutes less than the recipe called for and checked with a toothpick. PERFECTION!!! Okay maybe I shouldn't say that because I haven't actually tried one yet but they sure did look good. I should have taken a picture of them.

Anyway, I wanted to package them neatly and I have had a large package of take-out boxes sitting in my stamp room forever and they desparately needed to be used. So here is how they turned out. I needed to do something quick and easy as the night was wearing on and I have to drop these off this evening after work.

Looks good eh?

I even went on MDS (My Digital Studio) and printed up the recipe cards.

Bells Are Ringing

Happy Friday everyone!

I would imagine everyone is beginning to go into panic mode to prepare for the holidays. Let's see what is done on my list - most of my Christmas cards - check, tree - no, decorations - no, gifts - no, last of the Christmas cards - no. Okay so I am a little behind and I am hoping I am not the only one. Sigh...but....

I do have another card to share with you :)

This is a quick card that I CASE'd (for the most part) from another demo, Wanda Johnson.

My card base is Crumb Cake with a layer of Cherry Cobbler embossed with the Petals A Plenty folder and a layer of Deck the Halls designer paper. I tied some 1/4" Very Vanilla Grosgrain ribbon around the card front in a bow.

My image is stamped in Basic Brown ink using the Holiday Mini Bells & Boughs set and coloured using Watercolour Pencils. I punched the image out with the 1 3/4" circle punch and layered on the Always Artichoke 2 3/8" scallop circle punch. I added dimensionals to the back of the scallop circle and popped up on my card front.

Wintery Trees

Lately I have been using my brayer and glossy cardstock more than I have in the past. I would have to say that seeing Michelle Zindorf's creations has sparked a little flame in me.

I kept the card very simple with no embellishments as I did not want to detract from the beautiful landscape image.

I brayered my Glossy White cardstock with So Saffron ink. Then I placed a post it note circle where I wanted my moon. Then I brayered over my card again this time with Pumpkin Pie ink.

I stamped the trees in Staz On black ink using the classic set, Lovely As A Tree and the greeting is from Snow Swirled. Then I sponged some black ink around the base of the card.

I layered onto a black matte and attached to my Whisper White card base.

So another quick card for you today.

The card base is Very Vanilla 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 with a layer of Jolly Holiday designer paper over top. I'm sure I have mentioned it before but being as I use it so much I'm saying it again - I LOVE THIS PAPER.

The sentiment is another one of the silver rub-on's from a retired Rub-On package. One of these days I will actually read the proper name off the packaging and let you know which one it was. I punched it out using the Ornament punch. Since the silver rub on is more visible on Vanilla cardstock I needed to make it stand out on the card more, so I punched two ornaments from Old Olive cardstock and carefully layered in behind the sentiment.

The sentiment is popped up on the card front with dimensionals and then I created a bow using that fabulous retired Real Red polka dot ribbon and used glue dots to attach to the card.

Red Cardinal

As you may have noticed, I have been working on keeping my Christmas cards simpler this year. I still love how they are turning out and other than the cards I have done for workshops I am not making any two the same. I love it.

Today's card is created using the A Cardinal Christmas set. I stamped my image on Whisper White cardstock in Staz On Black ink. I coloured the image with Real Red and Old Olive markers. The image was then layered on Real Red cardstock and attached to my Old Olive card base.

I added a few adhesive backed rhinestones as well because bling on cards is just so right (smile)

Do you remember the clearance rack blitz, well I just had to get me some of this superb polka dot ribbon and it was the perfect final touch for my card.

Joyful Season

Have you seen or tried our new Letterpress plates? I am so in love with the Joyful Season plate I can hardly describe it LOL

This plate is so much fun. I used my Stampin' Write Markers to colour my plate and carefully followed the directions that come with the plate to run it through the Big Shot. I love how bright and fun these stockings look, don't you?

I took a piece of Baja Breeze cardstock and ran it through the Big Shot using one of the Texture Plates and then layered my Joyful Season cardfront to this. This layered nicely on my Whisper White 3 x 6 card base.

This card screamed snowflakes to me, so I ran some Baja Breeze and Real Red cardstock through the Big Shot using the Northern Frost decorative strip die. I layered these snowflakes, added a Rhinestone brad and used glue dots to adhere it to my cardfront.

BINGO

Sunday....today I get to spend time with some dear stamping/ demo friends to chat, catch up on life and perhaps even stamp. :) I am so looking forward to it.

I wanted to share another fun card that we made at last months stamp club. BINGO! This is such a fun set and I can't wait to make some bingo games with it.

I stamped the Bingo background in Chocolate Chip ink and then used Marina Mist, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Chocolate chip for my images. I layered my card front onto my Old Olive base. I created this card as a 5 x 7 instead of the usual 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

I just had to use the Tags Til Christmas set because it has so many fun sayings in it. The sentiment is stamped in Old Olive ink, punched out using the 1 1/4" square punch and layered on a scallop square of Marina Mist cardstock and popped up on the card.

I hope this gives you some added inspiration.

Ornaments

Wow can you believe this? I am posting on a weekend. I never post on weekends but with the holidays fast approaching and so many holiday cards to share with you I figured I would stay 'on top' of things and post some extra days.( yayyy LOL)

This card was super quick and I'm still debating on whether I should add a greeting in the bottom right corner.

The card base was created using the Scallop Square BigZ die from Cherry Cobbler cardstock.

I used my Jolly Holiday designer paper and layered it over Old Olive cardstock. I stamped and punched out some ornaments using the set Deligthful Decorations and the Ornament punch. I punched a small hole in the top of each ornament and strung some gold elastic cord through and taped in behind the Old Olive layer to hold it in place. The ornaments are attached to the card front with a bit of adhesive. Then I added my card front to the card base.

Holiday Party Dress

Last month in my Stamp Club I had the ladies create a couple holiday cards. When I was at Hamilton Regionals in September I fell in love with a dresser card that Jackie Topa had made. I simply had to make this card and decided that a Holiday Party dress would be the perfect thing to put by the dresser.

I won't go into all the details of how to make this card as you can get the dimensions and watch the video on how to properly cut, score and fold this card all on Jackie's blog.

The dress however I will give you the info for. I used my Scallop Circle # 2 BigZ die and cut out the larger of the two circles using Deck the Halls designer paper. Next with a pencil I drew lines as to where I wanted to trim to form the shape of the dress. Once I was happy with this I cut off the excess. I wrapped a bit of Very Vanilla Taffeta ribbon around the waist of the dress and popped it up on my card front.

This card was actually quite simple to create, so long as you pay attention to Jackies' instructions on folding (I say this because I tried folding the card twice before I decided to sit down and watch the video)

Non-Traditional Christmas Colours

Today I am sharing a quick card with you in some extremely non-traditional holiday colours.

My card base is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Baja Breeze cardstock with a layer of So Saffron over top.

My card front is created with Whisper White cardstock that I ran through my Big Shot using the Petals a Plenty embossing folder and an Oval Wood frame to create a flat spot.

I stamped my image from the Bells & Boughs set (another set that is part of a 20% off bundle currently available until Dec 16) in Basic Brown ink. I coloured in the image with my markers and attached this to my card base.

Simple Rub-On

So a lot of cards I made this past weekend had NO stamping - GASP - I know eh!

Here is a quick and simple card I made using a rub-on as my sentiment. I had no idea that the rub-on was silver and not black. I guess it would help if I read the packaging first - right? LOL

If you haven't already noticed, my favorite holiday colour this year is Cherry Cobbler. I have used it on so many cards I can't even keep track.

The card base is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Cherry Cobbler cardstock. I added a layer of Old Olive with a bit of my absolute favorite holiday designer paper, Jolly Holiday. (This is in the 20% off Contempo Christmas bundle available until December 16th) I punched one edge of this paper with the Scallop border punch and tied the Cherry Cobbler Seam binding ribbon around it. This ribbon is fantastic. It is so soft and light and so easy to tie, I just love it.

The way the light hits this card the Cherry Cobbler looks more pink than it does Cherry.

Finally I added my silver rub-on which I realized after I applied that it was silver and difficult to read. I have since used these rub-ons over Very Vanilla cardstock and it is gorgeous.

Warmest Holiday Wishes

Christmas is creeping up fast and although I have made Christmas cards every so often all year long it is now getting down to crunch time. This weekend I had the chance to make some cards Friday evening while my step-daughter worked on an a birthday card for my nephew and then I managed to get more done on Sunday evening.

I have had the Chunky Silver Glass Glitter for awhile now but haven't really used it so it was time to make a card dazzle using this fun product.

My card base is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Cherry Cobbler cardstock. I added a layer of Deck the Halls designer paper with a strip of Very Vanilla cardstock and then another layer of Deck the Halls.

I used my green lid Tombow Glue on the edges of the Vanilla cardstock and added my Silver Glass Glitter. So pretty!

Finally I used retired holiday rub-ons that coordinate with our Ornament Punch. I adhered the rub-on to Chocolate Chip cardstock and punched out using the Ornament Punch. I placed a few dimensionals on the back and popped up on my card front.

How is that for a cute no stamping card!

Sweet Little Owl

My nephew celebrated his 19th birthday a few weeks ago and this past weekend we were finally able to have him over. Friday evening Taygan asked me if I planned to work in my stamp room and I told her that I did because I wanted to get a card made for Shawn for Saturday. She told me that was what she wanted to do as well. So off we went to the stamp room and we got down to business.

On my drive home from work I started working on a card in my mind. I wanted to create a more masculine card using the Woodgrain background stamp that I just ordered in. So I set to work and whipped up this sweet card that I had already created in my head.

The base is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 Chocolate Chip cardstock stamped in Chocolate Chip with the Woodgrain background stamp.

The Happy Birthday stamp from the Level 3 set Occasional Quotes, is stamped in Chocolate Chip ink onto Vanilla cardstock. I lightly sponged around the edges of this piece to make it stand out more. I layered this onto a mat of Cajun Craze cardstock and attached to my card front.

Next I punched out my owl's body using the Owl Punch from Chocolate Chip cardstock, then I used the Level 1 Hostess In-Colour Paper Pack to punch out the Owl's belly. The eyes are punched from Cajun Craze cardstock and the center of the eye from Basic Black. I used a White Gel pen to make his eyes stand out and I also added a bit to the tops of his ears so that they were more visible being layered over the Chocolate Chip card base.

Using the Two Step Bird punch, I punched out the stem from Pear Pizzazz cardstock for the Owl to perch himself on.

This card was so quick and easy and I love how it turned out. Nothing too fancy for a male. :)

Strength

I know I haven't posted many cards lately. I do have some to share as well as some scrapbook pages but have not had time to take pictures to post them.

Those who know me and my family know some of the struggles we have been going through. I wouldn't normally post such intimate details of our private lives but I do believe in the power of prayer and today that is what I am asking for.

Since Chris' motor vehicle accident in 2008, Chris has struggled immensely with, among other things, chronic pain from his injuries, severe headaches, eye pain, lack of sleep due to pain and because of all this, severe depression and anxiety.

The past few months have seemed more difficult due to a never-ending barrage of assessments to determine the level of his disability and the care he needs.

I cry and pray each day for Chris as I see how much he struggles and although he doesn't want anyone to see him the way he is now, I believe that he can be touched by your prayers.

So today this is my request. Prayers. There is no need to leave a comment to say you are praying, just please say a prayer for him each day. He is not aware of my request and would likely be unhappy that I have talked about his current state, so I would appreciate if you do not mention this to him. (PS - we share the same e-mail so whatever you e-mail me, he sees also)

Greenhouse

Seeing as this week has flown by I wanted to quickly share a card with you. This is a bit different than my usual 'style' card.

The Pear Pizzazz base is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 with a layer of Baja Breeze and Greenhouse Gala designer paper.

I wrapped some Pear Pizzazz striped ribbon around the top layers of the card.

I used the set Just Believe and stamped the frame in Pumpkin Pie ink, stamped off once and then stamped on Pumpkin Pie cardstock. Next I inked up the sentiment and stamped inside the frame. I handcut the frame and popped up on my cardfront using dimensionals.

Just Believe

Okay, not to toot my own horn but.... I LOVE this card. (even if my picture quality is poor - sorry) I have been following Michelle Zindorf's style and have attempted a few cards using my brayer more and adding more sponging.

I created this card to submit for the London Regionals in September.

The card base is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" using the current In Colour Pear Pizzaz.

For my image, I used Glossy White Cardstock. I inked up my brayer with Daffodil Delight ink and covered the glossy CS. Then I punched out a circle from a Post It note and attached to my CS. I inked up my brayer with Pumpkin Pie ink this time and brayered over the card just to create a light moon effect.

I stamped my image from the oh, so gorgeous set Just Believe, in Early Espresso ink and stamped onto the brayered CS. Using a sponge I lightly sponged Early Espresso ink all the way around the edge of the glossy CS. Next I samped my flourish/ sentiment image, hand cut this piece out and popped up on my card front. I layered my image onto an Early Espresso mat and placed a strip of Pear Pizzaz striped ribbon around the card front. Then I adhered this to my card base.

I hope you like this card as much as I do.

Return to the Living

Oh my word, what is wrong with me. I have such good intentions to keep my blog current and then life seems to happen. It's not that I haven't had anything to share, it is simply finding the time to crop and post my creations.

Now I know Halloween is already past but better late than never, right? I thought my card was too cute not to share.

I whipped this card up for my Stamp Club last month at the last moment. It is a good thing sometimes that I have a fair drive to work, it allows me time to think up layouts. LOL

The card base is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 on Whisper White cardstock. I took a bit of black cardstock and ran it through the Big Shot with the Spider Web embossing folder. I layered this and a bit of retired designer paper onto a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock.

I stamped my images with Staz On black ink on Whipser White cardstock and coloured in using Stampin' Write Markers. This piece was then layered onto another strip of Pumpkin Pie CS. I added dimensionals and attached to my card front.

I just couldn't resist adding a sweet little bat using the cool Bat Punch.
