Fresh Note

Back a few weeks ago when I taught the classes at the school, I had the participants create this fun little card to showcase Versamark Ink and pastels.

The note card is a Fresh Cuts die cut note card (3 x 3).  The image is stamped in Versamark ink onto the card front and coloured with Pastels.  A coordinating piece of cardstock was then adhered to the inside of the card.

A button with some hemp twine was added to the front of the card and the sentiment was stamped in Mellow Moss ink.

Thanks for stopping by.

More Elements

Hi All,  I hope my fellow Canadians had a great long weekend.  For my friends across the border, you'll be having yours next weekend. Woo hoo.

Let me tell you, I dislike a farmers tan on myself, but that is exactly what I got this weekend . (more like a burn actually) LOL  It was a go man go weekend and now I need to go back to work just to recover.

Sadly, I didn't even get stampin time in this weekend. :(  That's not to say I don't have any cards to share with you though.

I am so in love with the stamp set Elements of Style from the Summer Mini that you will likely see many more creations with this set.

This card is another of my Hazard County Challenge creations. The card is a 3 x 6 Whisper White base.

I stamped my large flower image on my Basic Gray cardstock stock using a Versarmark ink pad.  I layered this on a So Saffron mat and then used my Mat Pack and paper pierced the top corner and along the bottom edge.

Next I pulled out last years Sale-A-Bration ribbon and tied up a bow. I finally layered all this to my card base.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the beautiful weather.
Margaret :)

Complete Recovery

We all know how difficult it can be to create a card for a man/ boy.  I like to create a card every once in a while that is great for a male.

This is a great card that is simple and perfect for a male.

I used Whisper White for my base and stamped my tree on the card by carefully colouring the tree with ink pads.  I added a layer of Chocolate Chip and Old Olive cardstock just slightly over the base of the tree.

I added a line of paper piercing on the bottom of the Old Olive and stamped my sentiment in Chocolate Chip ink.

I needed a bit more in the embellishment department but not too much, so I added a few corduroy buttons and added a knot of linen thread to the centre button.

Thanks for stopping by.

It's a Birdday

I hope everyone is having a great week.  Can you believe it is Wednesday already?  Time flies when you are having fun.

So in the good sense of having fun I am sharing a bright cheerful card.

The base is Tempting Turqoise, with a layer of Real Red and then a Whipser White scallop note card.  The bird is punched out using the 2 Step Bird punch and layered on the card front.

The sentiment is stamped in Basic Brown ink using the Well Scripted set and I attached  bow of Turqoise grosgrain ribbon around the top of the card.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous evening.

Simplicity

I decided that I wanted to do a super simple card that still showed class. So nothing is simpler than a one layer card.

My card is made from Whisper White cardstock and my flowers are stamped in Versamark Ink, covered with Silver embossing powder and heat set.

Then I wrapped wide Satin Chocolate Chip ribbon in a bow around the top of the card.

Now that's simple. LOL

Thanks for stopping by.

Dear Father

For my stamp club girls, this is one of the cards you will be making Wednesday evening. Since Father's Day is only a month away we need to get cracking on getting these cards done.

This card is a spin off from a card that I saw another demonstrator do. (mostly the layout)

I love the simplicity of this card, as well all know men are typically not into froo froo things.

The card base is Chocolate Chip and a layer of Whisper White added on top. Then I added some To The Nines Specialty paper and wrapped a strip of 5/8" Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon around.

I stamped my sentiment Dear Father in Basic Brown ink and to finish the card, I punched out my birdie in Sage Shadow cardstock, the wing is To The Nines specialty and I set the bird on two Chocolate Chip leaf stems.

Hope you enjoyed.
Margaret :)

For You - Hazard County Challenge

Hey all, here I am posting on a weekend. A bit unusual for me but I just couldn't wait to share this card with you. I love it.

This card is for this month's Hazard County Challenge to use White, Yellow and Grey colours, as well as paper piercing.

My card base is Whisper White with the flourish design from the new Elements of Style set stamped in Versamark, covered in Clear embossing powder and heat set.

I added a layer of So Saffron, which I scalloped one edge and paper pierced. I added a layer of Basic Gray which I also added flourishes to with Versamark ink.

Finally, I added my sentiment on Basic Gray which I then layered onto a scallop of So Saffron.

Thanks for checking out todays creation and hope you have a great weekend.
Margaret :)

Flowery Thank You

How about a no-stamp card today?

Sometimes cute cards can be whipped up without even inking a stamp and I'm not talking digital either.

Although I have started playing with My Digital Studio, there is something about embellishments that pop off the 'page'.

So I am sharing with you this fun card. My card base is Whisper White with a layer of Melon Mambo, edged with the Eyelet Border Punch, and a layer of Razzleberry Lemonade Designer paper.

I pulled out my fav tool - the Big Shot, and cut out the flowers using the Birds and Blooms sizzlit dies. I burnished the flowers so the edges would stick up and finished the flower off by adding a Rhinestone brad thru the centre.

The sentiment is cut out using the Many Thanks sizzlit and adhered using the Tombow Multipurpose Glue.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great night all.
Margaret :)

Baby Accordian

I am sharing another style fold with you today. This one is called the Accordian fold.

I used some Soft Sky cardstock as my base and retired SU designer paper called Afternoon Tea.

The images are Rock n' Rolled in Soft Sky ink and Chocolate Chip ink using the Animal Stories set. For the rock n'roll technique I only used one ink colour instead of two. To get the proper effect, I inked up my image, stamped off once on scratch paper and then rolled the stamp around the edges on the ink pad again to achieve that slightly darker look on the outside. The giraffe image just wasn't enough by itself, so I used So Saffron ink on the old Canvas background stamp and added that for some extra 'texture'.

The tag is from the retired set Bundled in Love and punched out with the large Tag punch.

I made a belly band for the card using a scrap strip of Soft Sky cardstock and attached another image to the belly band.

Thanks for stopping by.

Rustic Horse

I love this set for making masculine cards. I realize not all guys are country bumpkins and into horses and such but it's still a great set.

I used Old Olive as my base and layered Chocolate Chip on top with another layer of Old Olive.

I used Glossy White cardstock and stamped my images randomly in Versamark ink before brayering the glossy cardstock with Chocolate Chip ink. This is Versamark Resist.

I stamped my horse image in Chocolate Chip ink on Whisper White cardsock and stamped my sentiment from the Teeny Tiny Wishes set, in Old Olive ink. I used my scissors to roughen the edge and inked lightly with the Chocolate ink. Before popping this up on my card front, I stamped the scallop image in Old Olive ink and punched out with the Scallop Circle punch and the smaller image stamped in Chocolate Chip ink was punched out using the 3/4" Circle punch.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great evening.

Birthday Blooms

I just had to try a colour on colour card, meaning only using one colour cardstock.

I chose Pretty In Pink for this card and the inks selected were Basic Brown and Pretty in Pink.

On Pretty in Pink cardstock, I stamped my outline images from the retired set Botanical Blooms in Basic Brown and then used the solid image and stamped it in Pretty in Pink ink. Then I punched this out using my 1 1/4" square punch. Next I punched out a larger square with the Scallop Square punch.

I layered these together and adhered to my card front. Then I finished the card off by stamping my sentiment in Basic Brown ink using the Well Scripted set.

Simple, cute and with few supplies.

Thanks for stopping by.

Wonderful Mother

I hope all the mom's out there enjoyed Mother's Day. Perhaps one day God will bless me with children and I'll be able to join in the Mothers Day celebrations too. It must be a wonderful thing to be a mom, ups and downs and all.

Since I think it must be a wonderful thing to be a mom I made a Wonderful Mother card to share with you all.

I wanted something bright and cheerful and settled on the In Color Melon Mambo. If you look closely in the bottom right corner you may see some 'white' spatter or a bit of shimmer. This is the new Vanilla Smooch Spritz. It adds such a gentle yet beautiful touch to a card.

Also new on this card are the cute little clear buttons and the tiny stamped images. These are all from the current summer mini.

The sentiment is from the recently expired Occasions Mini set Well Scripted.

Thanks for stopping by.

Gated Roses

For the last evening of the classes I taught through the school board, I decided to teach some different folds as well as two-step stampin.

For this card, we focused on the Gate Fold. I used some retired patterned vellum for the outside flaps. I stamped the rose in Bordering Blue ink and two step stamped it in Night of Navy ink. I added some smaller flowers and leaves around the main image. I layered this on a bit of Old Olive cardstock to tie in the colour of the leaves. Applying adhesive to only one half of the main image, I attached it to the left front flap of my card.

Inside, I added a layer of white cardstock and stamped another rose. To hold the card shut, I tied a bit of Old Olive grosgrain ribbon.

Thanks for stopping by.
Cheers,
Margaret

Versamark Technique

Hello all. I keep slacking off but hopefully I can get myself back into the groove of posting on a regular basis.

Today I would like to share with you a simple card that showcases two Versamark techniques.

The first technique is the most basic which is inking your stamp with the Versamark pad and stamping on your cardstock. This allows the image to appear a shade darker than the cardstock colour, thus creating a watermark effect.

The second technique deals with embossing powder. So I began by stamping my image in Perfect Plum ink on Whisper White cardstock. Next I inked up the entire stamped piece of cardstock with Versamark ink, covered with Iridescent Ice embossing powder and setting it with my heat gun.

Two great ways to use the Versamark without a lot of work.

I really wanted this card to remain simple with a lot of "white" space. So the card base is relatively simple, made with Old Olive cardstock and paper pierced around the edges using a paper piercer and the Mat Pack. The sentiment is an old retired Rub On and my image is matted on a piece of Perfect Plum cardstock and adhered to my card front.

Thanks for stopping by.
Cheers,
Margaret :)
