Wonderful Mother

I hope all the mom's out there enjoyed Mother's Day. Perhaps one day God will bless me with children and I'll be able to join in the Mothers Day celebrations too. It must be a wonderful thing to be a mom, ups and downs and all.

Since I think it must be a wonderful thing to be a mom I made a Wonderful Mother card to share with you all.

I wanted something bright and cheerful and settled on the In Color Melon Mambo. If you look closely in the bottom right corner you may see some 'white' spatter or a bit of shimmer. This is the new Vanilla Smooch Spritz. It adds such a gentle yet beautiful touch to a card.

Also new on this card are the cute little clear buttons and the tiny stamped images. These are all from the current summer mini.

The sentiment is from the recently expired Occasions Mini set Well Scripted.

Gated Roses

For the last evening of the classes I taught through the school board, I decided to teach some different folds as well as two-step stampin.

For this card, we focused on the Gate Fold. I used some retired patterned vellum for the outside flaps. I stamped the rose in Bordering Blue ink and two step stamped it in Night of Navy ink. I added some smaller flowers and leaves around the main image. I layered this on a bit of Old Olive cardstock to tie in the colour of the leaves. Applying adhesive to only one half of the main image, I attached it to the left front flap of my card.

Inside, I added a layer of white cardstock and stamped another rose. To hold the card shut, I tied a bit of Old Olive grosgrain ribbon.

Versamark Technique

Hello all. I keep slacking off but hopefully I can get myself back into the groove of posting on a regular basis.

Today I would like to share with you a simple card that showcases two Versamark techniques.

The first technique is the most basic which is inking your stamp with the Versamark pad and stamping on your cardstock. This allows the image to appear a shade darker than the cardstock colour, thus creating a watermark effect.

The second technique deals with embossing powder. So I began by stamping my image in Perfect Plum ink on Whisper White cardstock. Next I inked up the entire stamped piece of cardstock with Versamark ink, covered with Iridescent Ice embossing powder and setting it with my heat gun.

Two great ways to use the Versamark without a lot of work.

I really wanted this card to remain simple with a lot of "white" space. So the card base is relatively simple, made with Old Olive cardstock and paper pierced around the edges using a paper piercer and the Mat Pack. The sentiment is an old retired Rub On and my image is matted on a piece of Perfect Plum cardstock and adhered to my card front.

I am squeezing in under the wire here for the Hazard County April challenge. Easy peasy so I said at the beginning of the month. Apparently I didn't realize just how busy I was going to be. So here I am at 8:15pm posting my card that I quickly whipped together while everyone in the house is thinking that I am looking for items on Kijiji for them. Boy do I have them fooled LOL

So I layered some Basic Grey patterned paper on Pink Pirouette cardstock and ran it through the Big Shot using the Scallop Circle die. I added a strip of taffeta ribbon and some dollar store pink half back pearls. I stamped Hello Baby in Pink ink on the cardfront and repeated in Creamy Caramel over top to give a slight shadow appearance.

Finally I stamped my baby elephant from the Animal Stories set in Creamy Caramel ink on white cardstock and ran through the Big Shot with the Scallop Circles # 2 die. I 'distressed' the edges with the Caramel ink and popped up on my card front using pop dots.

Mojo Meets Hazard County

Well how about that. I incorporated this weeks Mojo Monday challenge with the Hazard County Card Challenge.

It has been quite a week but I am making it through :) and still managing to get cards posted.

So if you need to know the in's and out's of the two challenges just click on their names and you can see what challenge requirements were to be met to make this card.

My base is 4.5" x 6", wierd I know but it was the only way to make my images fit. It was made with Mellow Moss cardstock. Next a layer of Perfect Plum with the edges punched using the new Scallop Trim Border punch. On top of this is a layer of retired SU designer paper. Then a layer of Perfect Plum panels with white cardstock panels layered on top of this.

I stamped the white cardstock with Pale Plum, Perfect Plum and Mellow Moss ink and the image set is A Rose is a Rose.

I stamped my Birthday Wishes in Perfect Plum ink on white cardstock and punched out using my large oval punch. I added my purple grosgrain ribbon and then attached my Hodgepodge hardware.

Take Five Challenge Attempt

As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator I have the ability to take part in challenge each month from Stampin' Up! exclusively for demonstrators. Well the most recent contest was to create a project using only 5 products (not including adhesive). Cardstock (no matter how many colours used counted as one product and each pack of Desinger paper counted as another product.)

This is my creation for the contest which never made it in the mail to be included in the contest. LOL Bad habit of mine.

My card base is Whisper White with a few layers of Certainly Celery cardstock cut to look like grass. I sponged some blue on my Whisper White background to look like the sky. Then I made flowers using Razzleberry Lemonade designer paper and I added flower centres to them with Fresh Favorites II buttons.

So there you have it - 5 products not including adhesive. I like the card even though it's not well balanced and Chris although the colours are great, did not like the card due to the overall imbalance.

Chalkboard

Hi all. Sorry I have not posted in a week. So many things to do, so little time.

Todays card is made using the chalkboard technique. I stamped my Upsy Daisy image in White Craft Ink on Chocolate Chip cardstock. Next I added colour by using sponge daubers and Stampin' Pastels. I layered my image onto Ruby Red cardstock that I punced the edges using the Scallop Trim Edge Punch (Sale-A-Bration mini) This was then layered on another piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock.

Before adding to my Old Olive cardfront, I ran the front through the Big Shot using the Petals A Plenty embossing folder. Then I added my main image. I created a mini version of the main image and punched it out using my 1 3/8" circle punch and layering on a scallop circle of Ruby Red. I popped this up with dimensionals and the card is complete.

Fifth Ave

This set is so pretty and this is the first time I have used it. I have seen so many beautiful cards with it that I think I scared myself off to make a card with it.

I like how this card turned out although my photography has been horrible lately.

My base is So Saffron and I used last years Sale-A-Bration designer paper next. I stamped my flowers with Certainly Celery, So Saffron and Brocade Blue ink, on Whisper White cardstock, using the masking technique.

I added glitter, distressed the edges with Chocolate ink and tied a bit of last years Celery Sale-A-Bration ribbon around the card.

Of course I needed a little saying on the card, so I stamped my 'sentiment' in Chocolate Chip ink on Whisper White cardstock and used my Lots of Tags Sizzlit die to cut it out.

Inspiration Tote Bag

I finally did it. I decided I would take a shot at Sankari's Verve Recycle Re-Use Re-Purpose challenge, so tonight after dinner I began digging through my cupboards/ closets to find something to 're-use'.

I came across a collection of canvas totes that I have never used and knew that it needed a facelift.

I received a beautiful card from a friend of mine a few weeks ago and on it was a pretty crocheted flower that she had made herself. Since I have crocheted for years I decided that if a beginner crocheter could make a flower, then so could I. Well, they came in handy for this project.

I stamped my leaves with the set Inspired by Nature, using Mellow Moss craft ink. Next I added corduroy buttons to the center of my flowers and used a hot glue gun to attach to the tote.

Next I stamped my word 'Inspiration' to the top of my tote using Really Rust craft ink. The reason I stamped inspiration is so that I can hang the bag near my workspace and any ideas I come across that I wish to try in the next month I can print (or tear out of a magazine) and place in my Inspiration tote.

Next I added a few more corduroy buttons to the front of the tote and finally I added some matching grosgrain ribbons around the handle.

Now I have a cute little tote bag that I can enjoy and put to good use.

Watercolour Blooms

Well, out of five Verve challenges, I have completed four. I just haven't been able to locate anything that could use a facelift, so I may not get to Sankari's challenge.

Today though I have completed the Verve Sketch Challenge. I have to say I love how the card turned out. I have had the set Botanical Blooms for over a year and this is the first time I have used it.

I samped the flowers on Watercolour paper in Staz On ink. Next I coloured the solid image stamp with Watercolour Crayons, spritzed with water and stamped. I cut the sentiment and image out using the Circle Scissor Plus and layered them on Mellow Moss cardstock. I sponged the circles with Soft Sky and Pink Pirouette ink and then I added a bit of paper piercing on the circles.

Next I used some old patterned paper and layered them on Mellow Moss cardstock. I added a bow of Vanilla Organza ribbon around the long strip of patterned paper and then added my layers to the Soft Sky cardfront.

Finally I popped up my sentiment and image using dimensionals and attached to the front of my card.

Wanted....

Hello, hello. I had some good energy today so I made sure I didn't let it slip by me. I went straight to my stamp room and decided to use some goodies I have never used and some things I have barely used.

For quick inspiration I went to the Mojo Monday blog for a sketch and got down to work.

I began with a Sage Shadow base. Next a layer of Chocolate Chip and on top of that some oh so wicked Nouveau Chic Designer paper - WOW - I really like it.

Next I added two bits of Chocolate Chip that I ran through the big shots with the tiny dots embossing folder, stamped my Wanted word in Chocolate Chip ink on a strip of DP, added some brads to the end and layered it to my card front.

Finally, I stamped my image in Sage Shadow ink on Going Gray textured cardstock. Then I punched the image out with my 1 3/4" circle punch and created a 2" circle with the Circle Scissor Plus from Chocolate Chip cardstock. I layered these together, added some dimensionals to the back and attached to the card. Done - Love it! LOL

This is a great masculine card without too much effort.

Mommy and Me

I am going to keep this short and sweet as I have not been feeling well the past week and really just can't get focused to stamp.

I held a Mommy and Me class a couple weeks ago and wanted to share with you our projects.

We made an adorable bear head card using the large scallop circle die in the Big Shot and various punches. Too cute for words and oh so simple.

The magnets were super simple as well. Clear stones from the dollar store, magnets from, you guessed it, the dollar store, patterned paper punched out using the 1/2" circle punch (smaller images work great because the stone magnifies it) and some Crystal Effects to hold it all together.

The final project was a little treat bag that we made. Yes I CASED all the ideas from various blogs and things I have seen over the years. The treats are little Hershey 'bars' wrapped in some designer paper.
